At South Texas Behavioral Institute we provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to individuals across the lifespan along with their families/caretakers.
What is ABA?
In a nutshell ABA is the application of the science of behavior to change socially significant behaviors. We decrease behaviors that are happening in excess while working to increase behaviors that are not happening enough.
Since behavior encompasses everything we do we can target anything we can see and measure including verbal behavior, maladaptive behavior, daily living skills, functional academics, motor skills, social skills and many others.
Think of ABA like a diet and exercise program, in order for there to be meaningful change there must be buy in from all key members. Parent/Caregiver training is crucial to the success of any ABA program and is always available.
We only work on what will improve the quality of life for the individual and those around him or her. We work in the best interest of our clients within the parameters of the BACB Ethical Compliance Code.
